Stand on the middle of the jump-rope with your feet together, and hold the handles up as high as they will go. If the handles come right to your armpits, it’s the correct length.

Is there a “rule” that says how long your jump rope should be, for example, according to your length? I have the feeling that mine is a little long…

Thanks in advance and jump roping is a great workout…damn

  3. jumpropeclass

30 minutes to one hour 3 – 5 days a week if possible. Enjoy it at a comfortable speed.

@nineznina Thanks for the ego boost! Try for an 8 foot rope. Even better, get my rope – Aerospeed II. You can cut it to the exact lengh that would be good for you.

sometimes you speed up the rope too much when you try to double jump. Try to relax and pretend you’re jumping with both feet instead. Also, make sure to be up in the air when the rope passes your feet.

Good video. You have jump roping down pat. I wanted to do some cardio workout but running on a treadmill or riding a bike is too boring for me and I hear that jump roping is the best cardio. This looks like a lot more fun that those other cardio workouts as well. Today was first day of jump roping and I got a killer workout from it. I messed up a lot when I tried to double jump on one foot. I can only do the basic jump. Sometimes I feel like that I’m jumping too high or incorrect speed down.

    thanks bro.

Hey – congrats on ur weight lost and you’re hot!
I wanted to try this kind of work out and something different. Instead of running on a threadmill and staring at a tv at a gym.
My concern I am 5 feet and I know a lot of ropes are from 7 to 10 feet. Any good suggestion to find a rope that measured to my height than 10 feet?
    Thanks!

could you please list the songs that are playing in the back – nice beats to hop to

  10. jumpropeclass

That’s ok. Just slow your speed down so you can last longer. go for 30 minutes. Don’t worry about stopping, just keep jumping at a comfortable pace.

To lose fat, you should jump for more than an hour. It doesn’t matter how many times you mess up. Just keep going at a comfortable pace.

are you serious you lost a 100 lbs? how often would you recommend that this exercise be performed?? thanks for your time.

  14. jumpropeclass

That’s a good start. Don’t worry about stopping. Just continue when you can. Eventually, you want to go up to an hour.

  15. tovondrainy

Hey how long should I jump rope everyday, is 30 minute enough?

  16. jumpropeclass

Your welcome man. If I can inspire just one more person to take that first step, then it’s been worth the efffort. Everyone need a little motivation to push them over the hump!

You are the shit my brotha! I’m so memorized by this. Your before and after pictures are crazy. Great job man. I’m very proud of you. Very motivating for me. I appreciate you doing this. Coop

Start off by jumping 15 – 30 minutes nonstop. Don’t worry if you mess up. Find a comfortable speed and enjoy it. Then you can speed up or go longer if you want. But make sure to maintain a speed that can last for 15 – 30 min.

im just starting in this, i would like to know wich could be a good routine for a begginer like me, i mean, how many sets and reps…

This is inspiring! I’ve lost 75 pounds since this past July, mostly by eating better and running. But I’ve just started jumping rope. I heard it’s not good to do it on cement, but I don’t have a mat or anything. Would I be better off doing it on the rubber track at the gym? Anyway, I hope to become half as skilled at jumping rope some day!

  21. jumpropeclass

It definately sounds like dehydration. you have to eat water rich food and drink water constantly.

  22. IRRULE

hey its good to see you replying to everyone on your vids…I took your advice and started doing an hour for 3 days a week. Something weird happened though, I ate Jack in the Box and waited 2 hours and started to jumprope. 30 mins in i started getting mad cramps in my sides and they wouldn’t go away. Was it because I wasn’t hydrated? because i remember not drinking too much water, or maybe not enough to withstand an hour of jumprope. Or was it the crappy jack in the box food? It never happenedb4

  23. smacleod69

I used to be able to do all that.

    Untouched by the veronica’s

Nice vid, you’re just an expert playing around with the jump rope, hope i can do that too soon. By the way, what’s the song in 1:53? Would you mind sharing it? First time i’ve heard it, makes me wanna work out afterwards.
